Professional Frame Restoration
When we think about the value of frames, we look at the period and place of origin. We think about the frame makers and the intrinsic value in an object that through so many skillful steps was created. We like to know the history of the frame and understand its intent. When it's right to restore a frame, it's best to restore it professionally.
Restore what was lost
This frame hung in a Singer Sewing Machine factory during the industrial revolution. It housed a tapestry made by the employees depicting a guardian angel watching over two children walking along a cliff. By the time it was brought in for restoration, only one corner remained intact.
That corner was repaired and the remaining three were completely rebuilt. Then, the frame was re-gilded. The transformation may seem like magic, but restoration like this takes hours of skilled labor and care.
