Clapp & Tuttle

Clapp & Tuttle was founded in 1951 by Talcott B. Clapp and Charles Dinsmore Tuttle. It was later passed down to Randy Tuttle, and then to Mieke Schuyler. Originally a book store, Clapp & Tuttle evolved into a custom picture framing business and is now an invaluable resource for our area. We provide conservation services that protect fragile pieces and offer frame design sophisticated enough to appropriately honor the finest subjects. From fine art to diplomas, we take pride in framing all of your projects.

Mieke Schuyler

Mieke Schuyler is the owner of Clapp & Tuttle and has been a framer for more years than she will admit. Her hard work has culminated in a shop that has unlimited potential for design. She can see the potential in your project, and can help guide you through the many options to arrive at the most suitable design for your situation. Mieke is generous with information, often teaching her customers about their own objects or artwork. Among her many interests, Mieke is an amateur historian and her appreciation for history uniquely positions her to understand and celebrate the significance of objects that speak to our shared culture.

When you shop at Clapp & Tuttle, you will feel her genuine appreciation for your patronage. She has your best interest at heart.

Linda Cerrone

Linda Cerrone is one of our resident artists at Clapp & Tuttle and she understands how to apply color theory to your project. Having grown up in a family culture of artists she's most comfortable when in discussion or contemplation of works of art. She's a dedicated sketcher, watercolorist, and botanical artist. For 40 years she's been teaching, creating and celebrating the arts. Linda works in a multitude of mediums, and is able to inpaint and conceal losses in photographs, pastels, paintings, and works on paper.

Ray Hawley Clapp & Tuttle Custom Frame

Ray Hawley

Ray Hawley studied fine art and music in college, and it was this love of art that led him to picture framing in 1978. A long time member of our team, he started at Clapp & Tuttle in 1987 when it was owned by Randy Tuttle. But for a brief respite in the early 2000's, Ray has been hard at work bringing his professional skills and positive encouragement to us ever since. He is our beloved and trusted advisor.
